Beetles

Beetles are the OG pollinators!

They are amongst the earliest insect pollinators dating back to about 200 million years. In fact, bees actually evolved from beetles that one day decided to start feeding their young nectar.

Beetles are a highly diverse group and come in many shapes, sizes and colours. They are easily distinguishable from other insects because of their round or oval body shape and their hard outer wings (called elytra).

Beetle pollinated plants tend to be large, strong scented and have certain parts of the flower called the anthers and stigma exposed.
